CCD Catechism – IMPORTANT DATES to note

Mon 5th SEPTEMBER 2011, 8pm	MANDATORY POM (Parent’s Orientation Meeting) for Parents of Candidates of CONFIRMATION CLASSES ONLY
Sat 10th SEPTEMBER 2011	Deadline for submission of copies of Baptism + First Holy Communion Certificates and Confirmation Program Fee to Church Office
Wed 7th SEPTEMBER 2011	Parents should by this date receive an Acknowledgement Email informing them of their child’s enrollment status and class details. For First Holy Communion Grades (FHC, SHC, USHC), the documents and payments received.
BUS TRANSPORT	are available for schools: SAS, AIS, TTS, UWC-D, UWC-E, SAIS, DCPS For those of you who have indicated that you require Bus Transport for these schools, your child's particulars have been passed to the respective School Bus Coordinator who will contact you directly. Please check the CCD Website for more details or new schools which may be added when a parent volunteer is available.

ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR CCD 2011-2012 OPENS FROM AUGUST 1st 2011 to AUGUST 31st 2011

REGISTRATION CLOSES ON 31st AUGUST 2011.
ALL fees and documents are due before the classes begin. Students are not enrolled until all the required items are submitted.

Classes for Term 1 starts on:

•	Tuesday 13th September (for Tuesday Class)
•	Thursday 15th September (for Thursday Class)
•	Sunday 18th September (for first Sunday Class)

BOOKS will be available for all grades on the first day of classes. Parents are expected to purchase the books for their children on the first day of class.

Book cost for Grades K-1, 3-6 is $25. For Grade 7, books are $30

Books for First Holy Communion and Confirmation classes are included in the fee.

IMPORTANT POINTS to NOTE

•	Please check the church bulletin or Church CCD website regularly for the latest CCD announcements.
•	All Students (New or Returning) have to be registered on a yearly basis.
•	Before proceeding to register your child, PLEASE READ ALL DOCUMENTS UNDER “REQUIRED READING” on the left side of this page.
•	You will need the baptismal information (year and church) of your child for registration.
•	Note that a RED ASTERISK (*) indicates that the information asked for is mandatory. Failure to provide the information will cause the online registration to be rejected.
•	Make sure to check the box “Require Bus from School” during the online registration if you would like to have bus transport to the Church. This indication helps to determine whether there are enough children to hire a bus
•	Acceptance is based on a first-come-first-served as there is a maximum number of children per class.
•	Request for the preferred day will only be answered and changed if there is space available in the desired class after the registration has closed on 31st August 2011.
•	Any special requests for class placement or other information regarding your child should be noted in the “Student Special Needs Information” box on the registration. Once the registration is submitted, it is not possible to return to the registration page.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION and K / G7 Classes

Sat 10th SEPTEMBER 2011

CLOSING DATE to submit BAPTISM CERTIFICATE (copy) and PAYMENT (Cheque only) at CHURCH OFFICE for ACCEPTED FIRST HOLY COMMUNION STUDENTS ONLY.

Registration for Kindergarten (age 5 ½ by Sept), Grades 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7: NO drop-off of Baptism Certificates required. BOOKS for K to Grade 7 will be on sale on the first day of classes. Book cost is $25 for Kinder to Grade 6 and $30 for Grade 7 (cheque made out to ‘Church of St Ignatius’).

CONFIRMATION PROGRAM

•	Candidates must be 13 years old by 1st September.
•	Candidates must have completed the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Buses

CCD has one-way bus transportation from some of the international schools..
Make sure to check the box “Require Bus from School” during the online registration if you would like to have bus transport to the Church. This indication helps to determine whether there are enough children to hire a bus.

At this time only SAS, UWC and AISS have buses on both Tuesday and Thursday.

UWC (United World College) Dover -	Tuesday and Thursday
AISS (Australian International School) -	Tuesday and Thursday
TTS (Tanglin Trust School) -	**
OFS (Oversea Family School) -	**

** Bus Transport for the other schools depend on the number of children who sign up for each particular day and on whether a parent volunteers to arrange the bus.

CCD does not manage the buses; however, CCD gathers the information to pass on to the parent volunteer who will organize the bus and children from each particular school.

Teachers and Volunteers

CCD is run entirely by the support of volunteers. If you have a calling to serve as a teacher, assistant teacher, bus coordinator, office angel, snack coordinator or substitute teacher, please see GENERAL / CCD Volunteers. You can indicate your interest to volunteer on your child’s on-line registration or you can email ccdstignatius@gmail.com.

CCD officially stands for Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. CCD is a faith formation program for Catholic children, aged 5 ½ to 14 years old in international schools.
CCD program differs from the Church weekend catechism program in that the CCD calendar runs from September to May catering for international students. CCD classes are offered on either Tuesdays or Thursdays. Confirmation classes are held on either Thursdays or Sundays. Refer to CONFIRMATION section for more details.
